I started rebuilding the 1996 Waterford TT bike today. This bike belonged to Scott Moninger of Navigators and was given to me in 1997 by Ed Beamon. Its been neglected the past few years but the goal is to set it up as a TT training bike that I can practice on before moving to the real race bike, AKA Hailey's Argon E-114. I ordered a 10 speed deraileur and cassette as well as a nice short stem. This bike has some crazy geometry with a 26" front wheel and seriously sloping top tube. Its a 52 seat tube with a 56 top tube! Hopefully I can get it close to the position I'll race in with a short stem. Other interesting parts from Scott are the old Profile bars and a 54 tooth QBP chainring on Sachs cranks.

Get off you're done..
So I woke up this morning and wanted to do the level 4 IPOP session that was on the plan. Unfortunately the legs had different ideas. After clocking a 25 hour ride week and 340 miles last week, everything needed a rest. The legs were so dead I couldn't get my HR over 169, I just couldn't spin fast enough. When that happens during an IPOP session it time to just get off the bike and call it a day. I need a rest week desperately but thats not until next week. I hit the gym with Craig at lunch and went through the motions just to keep things moving.
Hailey is planning the logistics for the Coast Ride in a couple of weeks. I hope to be well rested and ready for that big session. Next weeks rest week has to be a good one.
I know I'm tired, I have that overtrained grumpy feeling and nothing but sleep and rest will fix it. The only problem is that theres just too much work to do at the end of the year.

The Story So Far
Today is Christmas day 2011. So far, since deciding that I was gong to go for a Cat 1 upgrade, I've had a fun Cyclocross season with a podium on the Masters B's and fighting for top 10 positions in the 45 A's.
I was carpooling to CX races with the legendary Henry Kramer hoping to pick up as many hints and tips as possible. Henry came back still winning after taking a couple of years off.
I had a big crash at the first Surf City race and put a dent in my right knee. This put me back a coupe of weeks. The cash was on a downhill that had a telegraph pole to hop over. I got the front wheel over and the rear kicked up leaving me in a 10 yard nose wheely until I eventually ran out of talent and hit the ground. My right knee landed on a pointy stone opening a rage hole that didn't stop bleeding until I got home.
Training has been going well with consistent gym and interval sessions. Right now I'm just about to start level 4.
This past week I'd decided to have a mini winter training camp of my own and get in as many miles as possible. In a week. I rode to work 4 out of the 5 days and rode to and from work on Friday. This gave me 350 miles for the week and close to 25 hours.

Video from BASP #3 in GG Park
This is another great Hans Kellner video from GG Park. I was tired coming into this race but had a blast. Probably the worst result of the season but still a fun race. Think I finished 28th in 45+ A's. The video show me at the start and for about the first minute. http://www.hanskellner.com/2011/11/29/2011-basp-cx-race-3-master-45-a-men-video/

Masters 45+ A Manzanita Park
One of the first races of the CX season. Central Coast in Manzanita Park. This was reverse to the standard course. http://vimeo.com/30721325

Racing John Kammeyer at Central Coast #2
This was a great battle with about 2 laps to go. I'd just passed John and the he took about 5 yards out of me at these barriers, it took me half a lap to catch him.

Video of 2011 BASP CX Race 1 - Master 45+ A Men
Compliments to Hans Kellner for his Video and intro. Lots to see here in the first lap of the race. Look for the inaugural appearance of the infamous fly-over (awesome). Then there were the piles of snow, buckets of mud, and... well, not really. It was 80+ with no shade on the course. Toss in sand, dust, dry grass, gravel, a few rollers, three or so barriers, and you have a fun technical course. http://vimeo.com/31074049

After the 45+ A's
This was the second race of the day. I'd already taken 2nd on the B race and then started the A race. I blew up with about 1 lap to go and lost a bunch of places. Finished outside the top ten but loved every minute. Super supporter Hailey was there taking photos.
